Recent studies have revealed that high concentrations of copper (Cu+) may trigger a new type of cell death—"cuproptosis." This death mechanism is distinct from traditional apoptosis and necrosis, characterized by copper ion accumulation and protein toxicity stress, manifesting as a copper-dependent cell death mechanism.
