Background:
Prostatitis refers to acute and chronic inflammation caused by specific and non-specific infections of the prostate, resulting in systemic or local symptoms. The establishment of animal models of prostatitis provides a basis for further etiological research and the development of new specific drug treatments. This article introduces in detail the experimental materials, methods, and verification methods for establishing a rat prostatitis model by injecting estradiol benzoate.
Experimental materials and methods
Experimental materials: SD rats (male, 240-300 g); estradiol benzoate
Modeling method:
1. Anesthetize the rats with isoflurane at a concentration of 2~3%. The rats will be anesthetized and comatose and then fixed. All hair on the abdomen will be removed, disinfected with iodophor, the abdomen will be opened, and the testicles will be removed.
2. Inject estradiol benzoate (0.25 mg/kg, dissolved in soybean oil) subcutaneously after surgery, once a day for 4 weeks.
3. After 4 weeks of modeling, the specimens were harvested and HE stained to observe congestion, edema and inflammatory cell infiltration in the prostate interstitium.
Evaluation indicators: serum inflammatory factor detection, HE staining.
