PSAP

This antibody is specific to human prostatic acid phosphatase (PSAP), which catalyzes the conversion of orthophosphoric monoester to alcohol and orthophosphate. It is synthesized under androgen regulation and secreted by the epithelial cells of the prostate gland. Prostatic acid phosphatase is a clinically important protein for its relevance as a biomarker of prostate carcinoma. Furthermore, it has a potential role in fertilization. PSAP is found in non-neoplastic adult and fetal prostatic glands, primary and metastatic prostatic carcinomas.
