The serine-threonine protein kinase encoded by the AKT1 gene is catalytically inactive in serum-starved primary and immortalized fibroblasts. AKT1 and the related AKT2 are activated by platelet-derived growth factor. The activation is rapid and specific, and it is abrogated by mutations in the pleckstrin homology domain of AKT1. It was shown that the activation occurs through phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. In the developing nervous system AKT is a critical mediator of growth factor-induced neuronal survival. Survival factors can suppress apoptosis in a transcription-independent manner by activating the serine/threonine kinase AKT1, which then phosphorylates and inactivates components of the apoptotic machinery. Mutations in AKT1 have been associated with the Proteus syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.

The Akt1 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive antibody designed for the detection of Akt1 protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal region of human Akt1 protein. The Akt1 Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence assays. It recognizes Akt1 protein from human, mouse, and rat samples.

This antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying the Akt signaling pathway and its role in various physiological and pathological processes. The Akt1 Polyclonal Antibody is supplied in a liquid form and can be stored at -20°C for long-term use. It is available in various sizes to meet the needs of different research applications. With its high quality and reliability, the Akt1 Polyclonal Antibody is an excellent choice for researchers seeking a reliable and specific antibody for their studies.
