The protein encoded by APOE is a major apoprotein of the chylomicron. It binds to a specific liver and peripheral cell receptor, and is essential for the normal catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. This gene maps to chromosome 19 in a cluster with the related apolipoprotein C1 and C2 genes. Mutations in this gene result in familial dysbetalipoproteinemia, or type III hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP III), in which increased plasma cholesterol and triglycerides are the consequence of impaired clearance of chylomicron and VLDL remnants.

The APOE Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive immunological reagent designed for the detection and quantification of Apolipoprotein E (APOE) in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human APOE protein. The resulting polyclonal antibody exhibits high affinity and specificity towards APOE, making it an ideal tool for research applications in the fields of neuroscience, lipid metabolism, and cardiovascular disease.

The APOE Polyclonal Antibody is purified using a combination of protein A and peptide affinity chromatography, ensuring high purity and minimal cross-reactivity with other proteins. This antibody is suitable for use in various immunoassays, including Western blotting, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry. It has been validated for use in human, mouse, and rat samples, and has been shown to detect both the full-length and truncated forms of APOE.

This product is supplied as a liquid formulation in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative. It is recommended to store the antibody at -20°C for long-term storage and to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The APOE Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and high-quality reagent that can facilitate accurate and reproducible detection of APOE in various biological samples, making it an essential tool for researchers in the fields of lipid metabolism, neurodegenerative diseases, and cardiovascular research.
