I kappa B kinase beta, also known as IKKb or NFKBIKB, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IKBKB gene.IkBabinds and inhibits NF-kB in the cytoplasm. Activated IKKb phosphorylates IkBa, which freesNFkBto translocate to the nucleus. It is found that mutations in IKKb had a more pronounced effect upon NFKB activation than did comparable mutations inIKKa.
